Love Lane Thame
Limited Edition Giclée Print – Edition of 50
Love Lane, Thame is a whimsical creation of the town, where history and imagination stroll hand in hand. Set against the gentle backdrop of the rolling Chiltern Hills, the artwork captures five familiar buildings while inviting viewers into a world where time has quietly forgotten to keep its appointments.
Among the figures is James Figg, widely regarded as the world’s first champion boxer, enjoying a drink inside the pub named after him. In the centre, dressed smartly is the Irish poet W. B. Yeats, while outside the pub, the Bee Gee Robin Gibb shares a quiet drink with Phil Collins and George Michael. The artist, Ben Molyneux, also makes an appearance on the far left of the scene, quietly observing the gathering from within his artwork.
Although these remarkable figures lived in different eras, each lived in Thame, making the painting a playful tribute to the town’s rich heritage.
A fitting thought from Yeats accompanies the piece:
“There are no strangers here; only friends you haven’t yet met.”
